Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the party access places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
